About
I've spent my whole career fixing things that weren't working.
You're going to be dealing with one person, not a call center. So here's who that is.
I got into business at eighteen, running Smoothie King locations. For eleven years my job was to walk into a store that was losing money, sometimes four at once, put the right team in, cut what was bleeding, and rebuild it from the bottom up until it turned a profit and the people working there were glad to be there. Service with a smile, and actually meaning it.
Same job now. The asset changed; the work didn't.
Where I am with this, honestly
I've been licensed since 2020. Six years as a broker, 40+ transactions listing, selling and renovating, and named Top Producer and #1 Rookie at my previous brokerage in 2023 and 2024.
Most of that is agent-side. I'm building the buying side now, and I'd rather tell you that than pad a number. What you get from me is somebody who has been inside 40+ of these transactions and knows exactly where they go wrong, and who will show you the arithmetic behind any offer I make, because I don't have a long buying record to hide behind yet.
I've also done the unglamorous end of this. I've cut grass and mowed lawns to get somebody's house ready to show. I've looked after people's houses while they were out of town, because they trusted me with the keys. There isn't a part of this I think I'm above.
Why this part of North Carolina
We moved out here during the pandemic. We had kids, we were locked down in the city, and it was not the funnest experience. So we went to the country: space, a dog, room to spread out. Crowders Mountain, Kings Mountain National Military Park, Lake Wylie, Lake Norman. Local farms, the farmers market, little events for the kids. Less traffic, and people who'll actually talk to you.
I've lived in North Carolina 23 years and worked all over the middle of it: Greensboro, High Point, Thomasville, Randleman, Asheboro, Salisbury, Kannapolis, Albemarle, Charlotte, Gastonia, Kings Mountain, Shelby. This is the part I chose to live in.
What I actually want out of a call
I want you to hang up better informed than you were, whether or not you ever sell me anything. If the answer is list it, I'll say list it. If the answer is call your servicer before you call anybody else, I'll say that. And if you go a different direction and it goes sideways six months later, call me anyway and ask what I'd do.
What I'm after is being somebody you can lean on. That's the part of this I like.
What I won't do
- Work with someone who lies about owning the property. If you're not on the deed and not willing to sign it, we're done.
- Touch a house that's already been sold to somebody else.
- Do business with somebody who shows up to the walkthrough drunk. Been there.
- Chase you. If you've got a better offer, take it. Just tell me, and tell me why, so I can get better at this. No hard feelings either way. Be straight with me and I'll be straight with you.
God first, then family, then business. That's the order, and it doesn't move.
What I'll put in writing
The 24-Hour Offer Guarantee
You'll have a written offer within 24 business hours of us walking the property. If we miss it, we pay you $100. Not a credit, not a discount off something else. We send you $100.
The Walk-Away Guarantee
Cancel any time before closing, for any reason or for no reason. No fee, no penalty, no pressure. If you change your mind the day before, you change your mind.
Both of these are in writing on every offer we make. Ask us to point them out.
How we operate
We look at the house. Somebody from Monthaven walks every property in person before we make an offer. We don't send algorithmic numbers and then "adjust" after the walkthrough.
We put it in writing. Verbal offers are how people get moved off a number later. Ours comes in writing with the math behind it.
We don't re-trade you on condition. The number doesn't move because of what's in the house. The only things that can void a contract are outside both our hands, and we name them up front.
We tell you when to walk away. If listing with an agent would net you more, or if a repayment plan with your servicer solves the problem, we'll say so. We'd rather lose the deal.
We don't sell your information. Your address and phone number come to us, not to a list.
What we are not
We're a real estate investment company. We buy houses directly with our own funds, renovate them, and either sell or hold them. We're not attorneys, accountants, or financial advisors, and nothing on this site is legal, tax, or financial advice.
Monthaven Home Buyers is a trade name of Monthaven Capital LLC.
